TBF's Completely Wrong 2013 Postseason Predictions.

Here at The Baseball Freak, we pride ourselves on two things: bringing our readers in-depth analysis fueled by our vast knowledge of baseball statistics and history and our unquenchable thirst for the world's greatest sport, and making guesses about the eventual outcomes of each season that we know right off the bat will be utterly incorrect come October. So, we figured we'd get a head start this season and post our 2013 postseason predictions during Opening Week.

We could be looking at a modern day, West Coast version of Murderer's Row, but will that translate into postseason heroics?
AL EAST WINNERS: TORONTO BLUE JAYS
We're really going out on a limb here, but with the flurry of offseason moves made by the team, there's a legitimate chance that Canada could have their first division winner since 1993.

AL CENTRAL WINNERS: DETROIT TIGERS
The best team in the American League got even better with the addition of Torii Hunter and the return of Victor Martinez and Anibal Sanchez. A repeat pennant win is likely.

AL WEST WINNERS: LOS ANGELES ANGELS OF ANAHEIM
Slated to win it all last year after signing Albert Pujols and C.J. Wilson, the signing of Josh Hamilton and continued growth of Mike Trout make them the clear-cut threat in the West.

AL WILD CARD WINNERS: TEXAS RANGERS, KANSAS CITY ROYALS
Even after losing most of the power in their lineup, the Rangers are still a great team overall. And although it's a longshot, the Royals have a chance to be relevant with their vaunted rotation.

After years of waiting, the two saviors of baseball in Washington, D.C. will finally deliver a postseason win.
NL EAST WINNERS: WASHINGTON NATIONALS
There's no getting around it, this team is a strong candidate for the best team in baseball today. A rotation of Strasburg/Gonzalez/Zimmermann/Haren behind a lineup of Harper/Span/Zimmerman/LaRoche...hoo boy.

NL CENTRAL WINNERS: CINCINNATI REDS
The Cardinals continue to get the attention in this division, and the Brewers and Pirates are always threatening, but come on...the Reds have Joey Votto, Jay Bruce and Aroldis Chapman. Try and beat that.

NL WEST WINNERS: SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS
Two World Series in three years is nothing to turn your nose up at. Matt Cain is the definition of an ace, Buster Posey is the definition of an MVP, and the supporting cast makes them anything but underrated.

NL WILD CARD WINNERS: LOS ANGELES DODGERS, ATLANTA BRAVES
With more money than God, the Dodgers better pray that they don't miss the playoffs, or there will be hell to pay. And the Upton brothers will make a scary Braves team even more intimidating.

Could this finally be the year that Texas wins it all? Slap me, I must be dreaming.
AL WILD CARD GAME: RANGERS OVER ROYALS
Although a postseason drought will finally be extinguished for Kansas City, their run will be minimal as the Rangers look to right the wrongs they made in last year's inaugural play-in game.

NL WILD CARD GAME: DODGERS OVER BRAVES
The only outfield in baseball that sounds better than Upton, Upton and Heyward is Ethier, Kemp and Crawford, especially considering the possibility that Yasiel Puig could be called up for the playoffs.

Could these two big boppers blast the Reds past the NLCS? They'll have a tough enough time in the NLDS.
ALDS: ANGELS OVER BLUE JAYS, TIGERS OVER RANGERS
The Jays' rotation simply can't contain the power of the Angels' lineup, and the Halos sweep the Canucks. In the 2011 ALCS rematch, the Detroit boys send the Texas crew packing instead of the other way around.

NLDS: NATIONALS OVER GIANTS, REDS OVER DODGERS
Fearing the specter of their first postseason failure, the Nats topple the defending champs in the first round. While the Dodgers hope to do better than their biggest rivals, Cincinnati proves to be too much to handle.

ALCS: TIGERS OVER ANGELS
Justin Verlander > Jered Weaver, and this series will show the true disparity in these rotations, regardless of the insane power in both lineups. Prince Fielder will homer his way to MVP honors in the deciding game 5.

NLCS: NATIONALS OVER REDS
Strasburg pitches a no-hitter in an NLCS that goes all 7 games and runs away with the MVP, while the Reds are left to wonder what they're still missing that prevents them from doing much damage in October.

WORLD SERIES: NATIONALS OVER TIGERS
With everything on the line in game 6, Bryce Harper will make a diving catch on a Miguel Cabrera line drive that will bring the Commissioner's Trophy to the nation's capital. Jayson Werth's beard is named MVP.

There you have it, our 2013 postseason predictions. Don't start calling your bookies and placing those bets, folks, because these are picks you cannot possibly trust at all.
